All of the mini-trends that were skirting around under the radar last year have really come to the surface this season, including tartan, metallic fabrics, fur and tweed.
The grunge look has been very prominent on the catwalks and this has translated into kidswear as a rock’n’roll biker look. Leather jackets with biker boots and graffiti designed t-shirts have been very popular particularly with denim brands, such as Diesel. Denim is washed-out and worn-in, occasionally coloured and continues to have narrow lines, as the skinny jean is here to stay for both boys and girls.
As the cooler months draw in and autumn casts an orange shadow over the summer sun, berry colours are sneaking in alongside thick, warm fabrics, such as fur, argyle and tweed. On the runways, we saw a lot of styles, ideal for wrapping up warm. Chunky knits and soft denim for boys and smocks, caped coats, tights, hats and suede boots for girls in autumnal colours are the perfect choice for approaching the winter. In terms of colour, reds, blacks and purples were in abundance in most collections.
Smart is still an option as tailored blazers, classic cardigans and rainmacs continue to make their presence felt all over the catwalks. Tartan is also a big trend, so if you were looking to invest in Burberry, then this season is the perfect time.
