Perfect for Kids on the Go: AW09 at Calvin Klein Jeans

Calvin-Klein407

This season at Calvin Klein Jeans is classic and stylish as always. However, it does have a typically CK sporty edge to it, perfect for kids on the go. Denim in blue and black teamed with zip-up tops and white t-shirts create the base of the CKJ AW09 boys’ look. Touches of pink and purple bring a little colour to the neutral palette of grey and khaki for girls.

The range is perfect for classic, wearable childrenswear. It has a street style edge to it with the addition of beanies and hoodies for boys, but still has pretty dresses and skirts for little girls. The distinctive piece of the collection has to be the stone-coloured dress with puffball skirt detailing (below). Team this with jeans, leggings or tights depending on whether your child is going out for dinner or playing with friends. A polo shirt underneath can create an on-trend ‘preppy’ look for your little bookworm.

Staying Warm and Stylish: Kidswear Trends for AW09

2897-0

All of the mini-trends that were skirting around under the radar last year have really come to the surface this season, including tartan, metallic fabrics, fur and tweed.

The grunge look has been very prominent on the catwalks and this has translated into kidswear as a rock’n’roll biker look. Leather jackets with biker boots and graffiti designed t-shirts have been very popular particularly with denim brands, such as Diesel. Denim is washed-out and worn-in, occasionally coloured and continues to have narrow lines, as the skinny jean is here to stay for both boys and girls.

As the cooler months draw in and autumn casts an orange shadow over the summer sun, berry colours are sneaking in alongside thick, warm fabrics, such as fur, argyle and tweed. On the runways, we saw a lot of styles, ideal for wrapping up warm. Chunky knits and soft denim for boys and smocks, caped coats, tights, hats and suede boots for girls in autumnal colours are the perfect choice for approaching the winter. In terms of colour, reds, blacks and purples were in abundance in most collections.

Smart is still an option as tailored blazers, classic cardigans and rainmacs continue to make their presence felt all over the catwalks. Tartan is also a big trend, so if you were looking to invest in Burberry, then this season is the perfect time.

You can buy any of the looks above from alexandalexa.com.

The Motorcycle Diaries: Diesel Kids AW09

Diesel_Kids1030Diesel_Kids1139

Attitude is the word-of-the-season for Diesel’s AW09 childrenswear. The styles are street-savvy style with heavy motorcycle boots mixed with sporty denim. On the runway, we saw skinny black jeans with puffed and leather jackets and gilets. Boys had oil smeared on their faces creating a tougher look and girls looked edgy in headbands and long, fingerless gloves. Leather aviation hats and flat caps formed the boys’ headwear. T-shirt designs include tyre marks and urban logos in reds, blues and greens to complete the workshop/garage theme, whilst girls were dressed in lighter colours, such as pink and yellow with metallics and neon-flouro prints.

The collection boasts a brilliant choice of warm clothes for winter combining practicality with streetwear style. The range is hardwearing, functional and trendy. Perfect for an active kid!
