V&A Fashion in Motion: KENZO

Friday afternoon, two of the Alexandalexa.com team travelled up London’s District Line to South Kensington, where the amazing V&A Museum is located, to see KENZO’s SS11 womenswear collection on the runway.

Drawing upon the Japanese heritage of the label and Creative Director Antonio Marras’ Sardinian heritage, the designs reflected the fusions of the two cultures with elements of traditional Japanese dress combined with the decoration of Sardinian clothing.

The layered lively prints and colourful but coordinating hues KENZO has become known for were seen again with florals, stripes, animal prints and some subtle shimmery prints used to create the looks.

The models were painted with white paint and wore okobo style shoes, and valeti style head wraps, creating a bohemian, African and somewhat Geishan look with the fabrics, styling and accessories combined.

Though we doubt such striking designs will be seen in KENZO’s spring summer kidswear collections, we know, from taking a sneak peak at the pieces we will be carrying, that the colourful hues and combination of lively prints and textures are a guarantee.

Stay tuned for a sneak peak at the SS11 KENZO KIDSWEAR line in December and comment below on your opinion of the KENZO womenswear collection.
