Designer Rachel RileyDesigner Rachel Riley lives a life that most of us can only imagine, dreaming up vintage inspired children’s collections from a 16th Century Chateau in France.

Her children’s clothing line was first conceived when the British born designer used traditional smocking and knitting techniques to create clothing for her own kids. She now has her own stores in London and New York. Based in the Loire Valley in France, Rachel Riley Kids clothes draw heavily

on rural ideals and vintage looks. Her collections also focus on textures, tailoring and fine needlework techniques including embroidery. Petit Bateau

Born In: Fance, 1918

The Name: When Petit Bateau founder, Pierre Vallon heard his son singing “the little boats, les petits bateaus, in the water” Pierre Vallon had the idea to call his business Petit Bateau

Description: comfortable, quality, cotton knit clothing and underclothing for all ages, from newborns to grownups!

History: As legend has it, in 1918, Pierre Vallon cut a pair of long johns, singlehandedly inventing underpants. This first pair of underpants led Pierre to begin a series of inventions that had one common goal: comfort.

The series of inventions did not stop at undergarments, and from that point, Pierre’s company has been dedicated in creating the most comfortable undergarments and clothing for children and adults alike.

Interesting Fact: Today, Petit Bateau has over 50 signature t-shirt designs.

Not Just Garments: Since the 1920s, Petit Bateau has also been known for their advertising, in particular, their vintage advertising, which featured Pierre Vallon’s muse Marinette, a diapered toddler who boasted about petit bateau through song and play.

Hunter Wellies

In 1817 The Duke of Wellington unintentionally started a new fashion trend that has lasted centuries when he instructed his shoemaker to modify his 18th century Hessian boot to be suitable for battle and appropriate for the evening.

What was created was the Welly, named after The Duke himself, and used by everyone young and old today, including the royal family.

The most notable brand to come from Wellington’s accidental invention are Hunters, a brand which was established in 1856 by American rubber factory owner Mr. Henry Lee Norris under its original name, The North British Rubber Company.

The company originally focused itself on other rubber products until World War I when the War Office commissioned them to construct sturdy boots suitable for soldiers braving the flooded trenches. The same thing happened in World War II.

By the end of both Wars, the Wellington had become popular among men and women for wet weather and everyday work and the popularity of the Hunter brand led to the introduction of two new boots, the Green Hunter and the Royal Hunter.

Over the years, Hunter has received much recognition, including two Royal Warrants of Appointment for supplying waterproof footwear from HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, a highly prized mark of recognition, excellence and quality.

Today, Hunter’s remain the preferred welly brand for those who like to look fashionable while being practical and for kids’ who enjoy adventure in wet weather.

Timberland Kids

In 1917, Nathan Swartz, a Russian immigrant and cobbler, arrived in New England to work at the industrial footwear manufacturer, Abington Shoe Company. After many years as an employee, Swartz and his two sons bought the company when it went up for sale in 1955.

Ten years later, the family released the world’s first genuinely waterproof leather boot, the same famous yellow boot that is iconic to the brand today.

Though the boot was intended for the likes of lumberjacks, in the 1980s, the boot was picked up by urban fashion lovers as a practical, yet stylish piece of footwear.

Their functional designs, now translated into the world of kidswear, offer your outdoorsy kiddies practical and comfortable clothing for all of their mini adventures, without compromising style. And like all kidswear brands should be, each item is built to last.

For their AW10 collection, their motto of “comfortable to wear day, rugged enough to wear all year” rings true with classic, practical and fashionable choices for your active little ones with Puffer Jackets, Gilets, Hats, Mitts, Scarves, Trousers, Check Shirts, Printed Tees and plenty of Footwear
