Kids and parents shouldn’t have to miss out on this season’s festival fever. Whether you’re looking to rock out or expand your mind in a new aged workshop, festivals of every persuasion are providing safe and stimulating environments for children and their families.
Here are some of the best for the rest of summer months…
Big Chill Festival
4th-7th of August, Herefordshire
This year Big Chill promises its best ever facilities for families including the Little Chill Festival area just for kids. Here you will find a dedicated area for children, family camping and midnight movies. Workshops for kids run alongside entertainment from Magician Mr Bamboozle, clown Matt Zaz and award-winning illustrators and authors Hannah Shaw and Andy Stanto.
Lollibop Festival
5-7th of August, Regents park London
Lollibop doesn’t just cater for kids but is created especially for them. This year sees performances from Zing Zillas, Dick and Dom, Horrible Histories, Waybuloo and Charlie & Lola! All activities are free with the ticket price and check out the food stalls which cater to little bellies. We are looking forward to the Enchanted Forest and the Bubble Zone.
Thames Festival (FREE)
10-11th September, London
The free and conveniently located Thames festival is a great way to mark the end of summer. Performances and events are family friendly with storytelling, dancing and workshops for the kids. Mum and Dad can spend a chilled out weekend sampling fare from ‘Feast on The Bridge’. Push out bedtime for the Night Carnival, Sunday 7.45 – 9.30pm, Britain’s biggest and best illuminated night-time Carnival procession.
Electric Picnic
2nd-4th Septenber, Co Laois (50 minutes from Dublin)
Electric Picnic festival in Ireland has camping areas exclusively for families. The ‘Soul Kids’ Children’s area is equipped with special workshops and a chill out space for Mum and Dad, suitable for toddlers to 12 year olds. Parents will find plenty to do, as well as the musical line up try the comedy tent, public lectures, art installations or some quiet time in the Zen garden.
Summer on the Hudson Festival (FREE)
May-29th September, Riverside Park, NYC
All programmes and events at Summer on the Hudson are free and the fun lasts from May till the end of the year. Try dance parties, workshops and night-time movies. We love the dedicated sports and performance series for kids, including tots soccer and the Bindlestiff family Cirkus.
