Interesting Fact: The Autumn/Winter 2010-11 collection of Paul Smith Junior is the first child dedicated line that the label has designed in 10 years.

Description: Classic British style with a twist.

Style: Paul Smith’s classic tailoring is always combined with ‘something silly’ making almost all of his collections work for casual everyday wear and special occasion wear. It is undone, yet put together.

The Backstory: After leaving school at Age 15, Smith worked in a clothing warehouse as a means to an end, and was not interested in fashion at all. To him, it was just a job.

At the time, his only ambition was to become a racing cyclist, until, at age 17, a horrible accident put an end to those particular aspirations, leaving him in the hospital for 6 months,

Fortunately, from this horrible experience, Smith met people who helped inspire him to discover his true calling: to be a player in the colourful and exciting world of art.

Smith started taking evening classes in tailoring and within two years, he was managing his first boutique in Nottingham. Not long after, with a small amount of savings and the encouragement of his girlfriend (and now wife) Pauline Denyer; Smith opened a tiny shop in 1970. By 1976, Paul was shoeing his first menswear collection in Paris under the Paul Smith label.

The Debut Collection For His Kidswear Line: With familiar patterns like the Paul Smith signature multi-stripe, Paul Smith has translated aspects of his mens and womens wear lines to his debut children’s collection.but to make sure the line is 100% kid friendly and practical he has also added a few more elements.

Boys - Floral shirts, bold graphics,puffa jackets,quarky tees, elegantly cut corduroy blazers, cashmer knits and khacki trousers

Girls – In keeping with the rest of the line, Smith kept to basics with a twist, rose-print silk dresses, wool smocks, jersey tees and chunky knits.
